Brisbane City’s Council September Park Play Program

Are you looking for an exciting way to spend quality time with your family during the school holidays? Look no further than Brisbane City Council’s September Park Play program, taking place at the picturesque Victoria Park.

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 18-27 September 2023, 9am-1pm each day, Park Play will provide kids with fun experiences and performances that will keep them engaged, while keeping parents entertained too.

It’s free, and access is via Gilchrist Ave. Bookings are not required – simply show up on the day and join the fun. All ages are welcome though activities are best enjoyed by kids aged 5-12 years old.

  • On Monday 18 and 25 September, kids can create their own Suncatcher Animals led by The Design Farm. Join shapes, animals and circles with coloured cord to hang the creation in the kids’ room or outside in the breeze – they’ll be inspired to create more!  Come along and go wild with Bazil Grumble at Animal Sports Day! Children will love participating in animal themed races and activities such as leapfrog, crab walks and bear crawls. Brave the obstacle courses, join the team relays, enjoy sack and egg and spoon races, while enjoying the fresh air and beautiful views of Victoria Park!

  • On Tuesday 19 and 26 September, join Blinky Bill and their sensational Host as they take the audience on a journey that discovers all things ‘Australian’! Blinky Bill Live Show performances will take place at 9am, 10am, 11am and 12:30pm. Kids can also make Animal Origami with The Design Farm offering a range of folded animals on coloured card to keep children focused and engaged in creating their very own animal safari and scenery – a tree for the bird or monkey or a little pond for the frog.

  • On Wednesday 20 and 27 September, author and illustrator duo, Dannika Patterson and Megan Forward present their Scribbly Steam Workshop based on their picture book, Scribbly Gum Secrets. Kids can also get up close and personal to some wild animals with the team from Wildcall Wildlife Shows. If you’re lucky, you may meet and pat a range of wildlife such as a crocodile, turtle, a variety of lizards, snakes, and frogs, and get the chance to say hello to a bird or bat too.

Victoria Park is also undergoing a stunning transformation that includes a tree house lookout, waterholes, wetlands, and a high ropes course. While these are yet to be completed, a new BBQ area and other facilities has already been installed and proving to be a hit with families. Victoria Park is waiting for you to discover its hidden treasures, and Park Play is the perfect way to do it. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to make the most of your school holidays!
