Once upon a time… a special ball arrived in Brisbane.
This is no fairytale story though, it’s the real thing as Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella dances its way to QPAC from August.
The Broadway musical delights audiences with its contemporary take on the classic tale.
Leading the cast is Brisbane’s own rising musical theatre star, Shubshri Kandiah as Cinderella.
“I’d say I’m the furthest thing from a Princess but I keep getting these roles and it’s pretty nice to wear such beautiful costumes and play such great parts,” she said.
No stranger to Broadway, Ainsley Melham proves his royal worthiness once again, this time as Prince Topher.
“It’s been wonderful,”he said. “Shubshri is such a talent. We had so much fun together on Aladdin and now we get to create this show from scratch.”
“Really for me, the costume does so much. As soon as you put on the costumes you already feel very regal.”
As for flying across stage? A magical entrance by Silvie Paladino, The Fairy Godmother!
“Come along!” She said “You will be transported from your everyday life. We have 2.5 hours to take you on a wonderful journey of incredibly beautiful music.”
