There is something great about travelling with a caravan in tow! The world truly becomes your oyster when all the comforts of home are only a few steps away. We recently hooked up the Winnebago and headed south from Brisbane to enjoy the best of the coast.
How far south, you ask? Well, our first stop was the beautiful Tallebudgera Creek, about an hour-and-a-half from Brisbane and a short half-hour drive south from the Gold Coast. Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park is a hotspot for caravanners, campers and travelers alike! It’s right in the heart of Tallebudgera and sits on the waterfront. Sunset drinks by the water are a must!
If you like to stay active on your holidays, then we’re sure you’ll want to join Pure Aloha Yoga for a stand-up paddle along Tallebudgera Creek. Sarnia runs the classes, which range from stand-up paddle boarding, through to SUP yoga if you’re keen to work on your core. All of the classes and times are available on their website here.
Once you’re in Tallebudgera, you’re only an hour’s drive from beautiful Byron Bay, a destination frequently visited by Queenslanders (and Chris Hemsworth…but mainly Queenslanders)!
When you’re travelling to a place like Byron, you really want to make the most of the coast. And if you ask us, there’s no better place to do that, than at Reflections Holiday Park on Clarkes Beach. There are powered and unpowered sites available, as well as premium villas if you happen to not be travelling with a van. The ocean is your backyard when you choose to stay here, so make sure you pack the surfboards!

While Byron Bay is known for its breathtaking coastline, there are plenty of inland activities that are worth checking out. The Farm Byron Bay has become an iconic Byron venue. The Farm’s philosophy is to “Grow. Feed. Educate.” They have recently launched a new tour called The Icons of the Farm. The tour highlights some of The Farm’s favourites, from the field of sunflowers (if you visit in the right season), the Highlander cows, playful piggies and Blundstone boots. Tours run on Sundays and Mondays and can be booked online here.
During our trip, we travelled in the Winnebago Burke B caravan. It has everything you need while travelling, including the kitchen sink! Some of the extra features you might be interested in are air conditioning, a washing machine, a cook-top, oven and grill for and home cook, a fridge and freezer, 22” HD LED TV, even a water filtration system!
