Cuddling Koalas at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

They say good old-fashioned fun never goes out of style, which is probably why people have been heading to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, via the Brisbane River, for more than 70 years.

The Koala Express is the newest boat in the Mirimar fleet. It’s just over 30 minutes to cruise to Fig Tree Pocket, which feels a world away from the Brisbane CBD.

Lone Pine has been a sanctuary since 1927 for koalas, offering a bit of peace and quiet in the suburbs.

What started as purely a safe refuge for animals is now an experience in its own right – but the focus is still on education, conservation and research.

Animals are the main attraction at Lone Pine; with around 100 koalas on site, there’s always one in need of a cuddle.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is open 365 days a year–even on Christmas Day. Click here for more information on Lone Pine and the Koala Express.
