The whale watching season is in full swing and NOW is the time to visit the beautiful Fraser Coast. Where else can you experience the wonder of being so close to the magnificent Humpback whales, while taking in the stunning views of Fraser Island!?!
Our marine expert, Olivia, recently went on tour with Freedom Whale Watch, a family-owned and run business whose number one focus is customers and their enjoyment – and didn’t Olivia have a “whale of a time”, so to say.
Tail slaps, breaches, spy-hopping and close encounters are the standard fare, but to get a “mugging” – that’s next level! Captain Keith explains- “Mugging is a juvenile whale who’s just as interested in you as you are in them, so they come very close to the boat and on a really good day, it will stay 2 feet off the side of the boat and they’ll roll and look at the customers – but that’s only if we get really special people on board, you know”.
Freedom offers a fantastic day out on the waters of Hervey Bay to see the amazing humpback whales in their natural environment. During whale season, all Freedom Whale Watch packages include transfers from your accommodation, morning & afternoon tea and a delicious tropical buffet lunch so you don’t have to worry about a thing!
The Freedom III vessel is a stable and comfortable 58-foot catamaran with
360-degree whale viewing on all 3 levels plus a water level viewing area to get you as close to these magnificent creatures as possible.
