On the 17th of July 1st year, around eight centimetres of snow transformed Stanthorpe and surrounds into a winter wonderland.
To commemorate that event and to keep the winter spirit alive, the Granite Belt is hosting a new festival, ‘Snowflakes in Stanthorpe’. It’s on from the 1st to the 3rd of July and there’ll be an ice rink, snow making machines, snowman making competitions, fun runs, fireworks, farmers’ markets and much more.
Making a wintery weekend of it around Stanthorpe is easy. The Brass Monkey Brewhouse is open Thursday to Monday each week 10am till 6pm. It offers a range of craft beers made by local Ernie Butler.
Heavenly Chocolates is located on Pyramids Road. It’s Stanthorpe’s only chocolate shop and offers a great range sourced from all over Australia. Right behind the chocolate shop is Wisteria Cottages, three rustic cottages that are perfect for couples and families. A two night stay starts at $170 a night and that includes a delicious country breakfast basket.
