Coastrek is one of Australia’s most iconic charity hikes for women, with a series of treks in stunning locations across the country. There are five locations to choose from including Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Sydney, the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula and WA’s Margaret River.
The event is a team trekking challenge, so the first step is to gather a group of four enthusiastic walkers, ready to take on the challenge of hiking 20, 30, 45 or 60 kilometres. Once you’ve got your tribe together, it’s time to start training and fundraising for a worthy cause.
This year, Coastrek has proudly partnered with the Heart Foundation. Trekkers will be tasked with raising life-changing funds for this incredible and vital charity. Your support will help the Heart Foundation fund lifesaving research, assist the delivery of programs and ultimately improve Australian’s heart health.
When Di Westaway first started Coastrek in 2009, 40 women and men took part. Now, tens of thousands of Coastrekkers show up each year and it continues to grow in popularity.
“There’s a great sense of exhilaration, exhaustion and then once you realise you’ve done it, there’s that sense of fulfillment that you’ve done something not just amazing for yourself but amazing for the greater good,” explained Di.
