The Riverside Markets, City Botanic Gardens

If you ask us, there’s nothing better than strolling through the markets on a Sunday morning. What’s not to love? Freshly brewed coffee, live music and talented stallholders selling their wares.

For over 30 years, the Riverside Markets in Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens have been delighting market-lovers! The market’s founder, Peter Hackworth is a stalwart when it comes to Brisbane’s restaurant and market scene. At age 84, she’s certainly made her mark on the industry. Over the years Peter opened a collection of restaurants including Primitif in 1958, The Cat’s Tango and Scaramouche. She has always surrounded herself with creative friends and acquaintances and when a few of them gathered together, looking for somewhere to sell their wares, The Riverside Markets were born.

Every Sunday, from 8am to 3pm the pathways through Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens come alive. You’ll find everything from art and fashion, to food and entertainment. Everyone is welcome, including your four-legged friends.
