The Scenic Rim’s famous Eat Local Week is now a whole month of delicious celebrations – on for the entirety of June. So, here’s our sneak peek on how best to spend it… of the 139 events on offer!
Bowlos have always been a favourite… you know you can count on a simple feed and a cold beer – plus they’re a great spot to meet mates.
It’s been that way for around 150 years – when the first bowls club opened in Queensland – but very few are destination eateries.
The Bowl Boonah has changed that. It’s got a groovy green and a menu that will bowl you over – plus, it’s well worth the drive… just one hour from Brisbane!
Without a single frozen schnitty in sight… instead, they offer pretty swanky pub fare… think beef cheeks and ribs – using only Scenic Rim produce.
For Eat Local Month – The Bowl are offering up a Be Seen on the Green long lunch… with a three-course menu… live music and some of the best views in town! It’s on June 17 – you can book here.
If you’d rather play with your food than eat it, find your way to Elderflower Farm during Eat Local Month. Rachel is a horticulturalist, flower whisperer and your guide to creating a beautiful veggie bouquet… a workshop you can book throughout the month of June!
She will also be offering tea blending… and cupcake decorating… using posies you can pick yourself at the farm. Book these experiences here.
It wouldn’t be Eat Local Month without a camel cameo!
Paul and his team from Summer Land Camels will throw open their gates during June… with talks and tastings of their camel-milk products. They’ll also be releasing a new brew – a two-year barrel-aged milk and honey vodka.
You’ll also find the Fermented Food Festival on-site – hosted by The Pickling Project and Summer Land – offering kombucha, krauts and more. Check it out here.
If you prefer your fermented food as a drink – Scenic Rim Brewery has you covered!
Rippa Rita will make her grand appearance at Eat Local Month – an IPA made with beetroot and rosellas.
They’ll also be hosting a full to the brim lunch… plus a morning and afternoon of ale tales.
All these experiences and the full event schedule is available on the Eat Local Month website. It’s on for the month of June – finishing with their signature event, Winter Harvest Festival – on July 1.
