A Right Royal Adventure on Fraser Island

There’s nothing like the royal stamp of approval to put a holiday destination on the world map.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose Fraser Island as their only Queensland stop during the 2018 Aussie tour, all eyes suddenly turned towards the world’s biggest sand island.

While a pregnant Meghan rested up, Harry visited many of the island’s magnificent natural features – including Pile Valley rainforest and Lake McKenzie.

The royals also dined on local indigenous flavours at the resort’s Seabelle Restaurant – head chef, Udaysen Mohite, serving up signature dishes from the menu for the royal palace. Apparently, Harry also enjoyed one or two Queensland beers.

Meghan and Harry escaped the media glare in one of the resort’s executive houses – a paparazzi-proof hideaway surrounded by wilderness overlooking the bay.

And the island’s resident photographer, Peter Meyer, gifted one of his beautiful snaps to the royal couple – as a memento of their time on Fraser.

The good news is: you don’t need blue blood to enjoy a right royal adventure on Fraser Island – thanks to a special package on offer from Kingfisher Bay Resort.

The “Royal Adventure” deal includes 2 nights’ resort accommodation; a full-day 4WD Beauty Spots Tour; breakfast daily; and return ferry transfers.
