It’s no secret that in the past two to three years, we’ve seen an explosion in caravan and recreational vehicle ownership! And haven’t we got the backyard for it?!
Queensland is home to more than 500 caravan parks… and each year over 20,000 new vans are joining the already long caravan-conga line traipsing around the country.
It’s an industry that doesn’t seem to be slowing anytime soon… and one way to get acquainted with the ‘van life’ is by checking out Caravanning Queensland’s annual super shows… often held at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane. A normal day at the show will see over 900 vans on-site! Plus, with Queensland taking the cake for the highest number of registered RVs over any state (more than 200,000, mind you!) – it just goes to show we are the epicenter.
So, to help balance those numbers, Caravanning Queensland have worked closely with TAFE Queensland to develop apprenticeships in RV manufacturing and servicing. These take place in their brand-new facility at Acacia Ridge – with the course itself typically taking two years to complete.
From the paintwork and plumbing to fabrication and fittings – these days, caravans are as flashy as your home! So, every single step is thought of and covered along the way – with students graduating with a multitude of qualifications.
Keen on a career in caravans? TAFE Queensland’s 2023 intake is now open – plus, be sure to browse our website for destination inspo if you’re planning a trip away.
We recently visited caravan parks in:
Rainbow Beach
The Whitsundays
Mackay (Cape Hillsborough)
Tallebudgera
Hervey Bay
Plus, our friends over at Creek to Coast have a stack of inspo for you too – like Cape Palmerston.
