Wander down Caxton Street (near Suncorp Stadium) on any given night of the State of Origin series and you’ll hear a catch cry that has stood the test of time.
“Queenslander!! Queenslander!! Queenslander!!” is a stoic call to arms that Billy Moore coined in 1995. So, what could be more quintessentially Queensland than holidaying on Fraser Island than with Billy Moore himself? Earlier this year, Liz set out with Billy on the ultimate Queenslander trip – exploring the best of Fraser Island, covering coast to coast and everything in between.
Retired from footy for many years now, Billy leads a great life – as a Sunshine Coast restaurateur and ambassador for Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island, he still enjoys getting back into nature “What I like about Fraser Island is the diversity… I come from country Queensland- I love the bush, I find it so relaxing”.
When you first step foot onto Fraser Island take in the sights of freshwater lakes, rainforests and endless vast golden beaches, it is easy to see why Billy is so passionate about the Island.
In just a day, Liz and Billy checked in to Kingfisher Bay Resort, swam in Lake McKenzie and marvelled at 50-metre tall Satinay trees in beautiful Pile Valley. And, their day didn’t end there – after a couple of hours of trekking, they arrived on the eastern side of the island at Eurong Beach Resort. Now that’s what we call an ultimate Queensland adventure!
