My QLD: Neil McKenzie

Neil is 90 years old and fell in love with trains when he was a boy, and since the mid-1980s he’s been building incredible miniature locomotives. Each one can take up to five years to complete.

The public can ride Neil’s locomotives at McPherson Park in Bracken Ridge. The club holds train days on the fourth Sunday of every month. It costs just $2 to ride. Thanks to his love of steam trains and his service to the community, Neil was recently awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia.
