The South Burnett takes on an amber tinge when the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival pops up on the last Sunday in May each year.
The tiny town is dominated by stalls that are dedicated to fresh local flavour and needless to say, many of the recipes include varieties of pumpkin.
Activities include the pumpkin power shot put, pumpkin bowls, pumpkin pull and the hotly contested “Great Australian Pumpkin Roll”. Pumpkin rollers queue on Policeman’s Hill and the best of the vegies win prizes for making it all the way to the bottom.
